Okay, so I’m freaking out a bit. My laptop died last week (BSOD loop, lost all my class notes), and I just got a new PC with a 1TB SSD. My tech-savvy cousin immediately yelled at me for having "everything crammed onto C: drive" and said I need to partition it into C: and D: right now.
I opened Windows Disk Management and almost had a panic attack. What if I delete something vital? What is a partition physically? Does splitting a single SSD into two drives slow it down or wear out the chips faster? If it's so important, why didn't Microsoft just do it out of the box?! Please explain like I'm 5 before I break another computer.
