So I've been planning to reorganize my disk partitions because my current setup is a mess. Long story short: when I installed Windows, I let the installer do whatever it wanted, and now I have a tiny C: drive that's constantly full and a massive D: partition I barely use.
I was about to download AOMEI Partition Assistant because I've heard good things and the interface looked simple enough for someone like me who's not super technical.
Then my coworker - the "IT guy" at the office who everyone goes to for computer stuff - saw me looking at the download page and went on a 10-minute rant about how:
"Windows already has Disk Management, you don't need third-party bloatware"
"These free tools are just data harvesting"
"DiskPart can do everything those tools do, you just need to learn it"
"You're going to brick your drive with random software"
Now I'm second-guessing everything. I HAVE used Disk Management before and it couldn't do what I needed - the Extend option was greyed out and I couldn't move partitions around. But this guy talks with SO much confidence that I feel like I must be wrong somehow.
Is there a legitimate reason to use third-party partition tools when Windows has built-in options? Or am I just being lazy and should learn DiskPart like he says?
I feel like either way I'm going to mess something up. Please help before I either install the "wrong" software or end up nuking my drive with DiskPart commands I don't understand.
