Stopping all activity was the smartest move you could've made. Since it's an NVMe, speed is everything because of TRIM.
Before you try recovery tools, check if Windows saved you behind the scenes:
1. OneDrive: Log in to OneDrive.com. Windows 11 often syncs the Desktop by default. Check the online Recycle Bin there.
2. Shadow Copies: Right-click the folder where the files were > Properties > Previous Versions.
Recovery Attempt (USB Only)
If you use recovery software, do not install it on your C: drive. That will overwrite your data.
Download a tool on a different computer. Run it from a USB drive. Save any "found" files back onto that USB, not the SSD.
If a deep scan shows your files but they are 0KB, TRIM has already done its job. If the files are mission-critical and worth the money, shut the PC down immediately and call a professional recovery lab. Every minute the SSD is powered on, it's "cleaning" itself.
Good luck—hope you catch it in time!
