Help! Need to convert MBR to GPT for Windows 11 but I'm scared for my data...

I'm trying to upgrade to Windows 11 and I'm getting that error about MBR disks and EFI systems.

I googled it and most tutorials say to use diskpart and the clean command, but people are saying that deletes everything?! I have all my work files and family photos on this drive, so I really don't want to risk it.

Is there ANY way to convert the disk to GPT during the installation without losing my files? Please tell me I don't have to format everything...

Don't panic! You absolutely DO NOT have to wipe your drive.
The clean command will delete everything. You can use MBR2GPT, a built-in Microsoft tool, allows to convert your disk from MBR to GPT without losing data.
Follow the steps below:
1. Boot from your Windows 11 USB drive. Go through the setup until you see the "Windows cannot be installed to this disk" error.
2. Press Shift + F10 (or Fn + Shift + F10 on some laptops). A black Command Prompt window will open.
3. Type this command first and press Enter:
mbr2gpt /validate
*This just checks if your disk is eligible for conversion. No changes yet.
4. If it says "Validation completed successfully", type this and press Enter:
mbr2gpt /convert
*This does the actual conversion. Takes about 10–20 seconds. Your files stay exactly where they are.
5. Type exit and close the window.
6. Click Refresh in the installer. The error should be gone. Proceed with Windows 11 installation normally.
