I’m on Windows 11 and ran into a weird issue today. My external 1TB drive was working fine yesterday, but after a reboot it completely disappeared from File Explorer. In Device Management, I can see it still shows up, so I know the system detects it, but when I opened Disk Management it shows as “Unknown, Not Initialized.”
I didn’t do anything major except a normal shutdown. I tried unplugging, switching USB ports, and updating drivers, but no luck. I know I can right-click and initialize it, but I’ve read that might wipe the partition table.
The drive has important files, so I’m not sure if I should use DiskPart, rebuild MBR, or try recovery tools first. Anyone had this before?
