"An unexpected error occurred" - screen frozen, tried everything pls help!!

Title basically says it all. I keep getting this generic "An unexpected error occurred and the application needs to close" message.

I already cleared my browser history, unplugged my mouse, and even slapped the side of my monitor (half joking but I'm desperate). Nothing works. I searched Google but all the answers look like they’re written in ancient Greek.

I’m literally just trying to open my dashboard. Does anyone have a simple fix for this before I throw my whole PC out the window?

First off, the monitor is innocent 😄

A couple questions before going full "Windows repair mode":

Is this dashboard opening in a browser or a separate app?

Did this just start happening today, or has it been broken for a while?

Have you already tried a reboot?

If it's browser-based, try the easy stuff first:

open it in an Incognito/Private window

try a different browser

temporarily disable extensions/ad blockers

I've seen browser extensions randomly break dashboards more times than I can count.

If it's an actual installed app, I'd try:

rebooting

reinstalling the app

checking if there was a recent update

Also, when it crashes/freezes, open Task Manager and see if anything is spiking:

CPU

RAM

Disk usage

That can usually point you in the right direction pretty fast.

I probably wouldn't jump straight into DISM/SFC scans yet unless Windows itself is acting weird outside this one app/site.

And yeah, ignore those giant "type 14 commands into cmd" tutorials for now. Half the time the fix ends up being something dumb like a broken extension or corrupted cache.
